The Challenge
As a leading provider of cloud based, AI powered contract management software, ContractSafe needed to hire a GTM Engineer to automate and scale its RevOps, sales, and marketing operations.
Having previously partnered with Betts to hire SDRs, AEs, CSMs, and a Head of Sales, ContractSafe trusted Betts’ strong understanding of its company culture and hiring needs to support this more specialized search.
The role called for someone with RevOps expertise, deep AI fluency, hands on HubSpot experience, and a proven ability to build startup revenue systems from the ground up. However, because this was a new title for the company, ContractSafe did not have a clearly defined talent pool or standard career path to reference, making it a search that required deep market knowledge, access to a broad network of adjacent GTM talent, and a clear understanding of what would make the right person want the job.
The Solution
Rather than limiting the search exclusively to candidates with GTM Engineer titles, Betts leveraged its extensive, specialized GTM network and deep understanding of GTM organizations to identify qualified candidates from adjacent backgrounds, including RevOps leadership, consulting, and operations advisory roles.
The team then conducted in-depth qualification conversations to assess each candidate’s transferable skills, technical capabilities, and ability to succeed in a GTM Engineering function. Betts looked for candidates who could build and automate GTM workflows, integrate tech stack tools, and own the CRM, recognizing that the strongest candidates might not have held the exact title before but had the skills to hit the ground running.
The Betts team maintained close alignment with the founders throughout the partnership to exchange regular feedback and continuously refine the search. Of the seven candidates shortlisted by Betts, ContractSafe interviewed four, one of whom became their new hire. This saved the hiring team more than 40 hours of interviewing time and helped fill the role in less than two months, compared to the industry average three months it takes to fill this highly specialized title.
The placement extended beyond the role itself. After joining, the new hire referred a RevOps professional who ContractSafe went on to hire, reflecting the caliber of the placement Betts made, both in depth of experience and strength of their network.
