Top Revenue Operations Manager Salary Trends for 2023

The Betts Team
February 7, 2023

Salary trends for revenue operations managers are growing at a much faster rate in 2023 than other go-to-market (GTM) positions in tech. The scarcity of qualified candidates in Rev Ops is adding a premium for the role and employers should expect base rates to only go up from the heavy hiring competition among SaaS startups. For a wider view on the compensation changes for this and other sales, marketing and customer success jobs, read our 2023 Compensation Guide here.

In this article, we will cover the top trends we have seen for Rev Ops manager salaries and benefits packages as well as the factors impacting these changes:

What is a Revenue Operations Manager?

Revenue operations is a rapidly growing field in the tech industry. As companies look to streamline their sales and marketing efforts, more and more organizations are turning to revenue operations managers to help them achieve their goals. However, the role itself is still relatively new (only developed within the past few years) and its responsibilities and qualifications are really still being defined in the market.

Revenue Operations Manager Salary Trends

The top trend we have seen regarding Rev Ops salaries in tech is the continuous growth of base rates, which went up on average by about 10% from 2021 to 2022. A revenue ops manager will typically earn 20% more than the similar role of sales operations manager. Even less experienced revenue operations managers will generally see a base salary range of $100,000 – $160,000, while those with more than five years of experience can command rates of $150,000 – $250,000.

Another compensation trend that is becoming increasingly popular is the use of equity as a component of compensation packages for Rev Ops roles. Many tech companies are now offering stock options or restricted stock units as a way to align the interests of employees with those of the company, as well as make up for hiring budget shortfalls.

In addition to these trends, we’re also seeing an increase in the use of performance-based bonuses for revenue ops managers, averaging at least 10% of base salary. These bonuses are tied to specific performance metrics and provide an additional incentive for employees to achieve their goals.

Because of the high demand for qualified candidates for this role, many companies are turning to recruiting agencies, hiring platforms, or a mix of both to expand their search reach. With the extent of what Rev Ops actually does still being defined in many cases, an outsourced firm will also help narrow the specific set of requirements each company will need from new hires.

Growth of Rev Ops

Overall, the compensation trends for revenue operations managers in the tech industry are constantly evolving. As companies continue to adapt to the changing market, we expect to see even more innovative compensation packages being offered to attract and retain top talent.

As the field of revenue operations continues to grow, it is important for companies to stay informed about the latest trends in compensation and hiring. By working with recruiting agencies and offering competitive compensation packages, companies can attract and retain the best talent for their revenue operations teams.
